Privacy Policy
Plain English summary: Your financial data lives on your device. We don't connect to your bank. We don't sell your data. Cloud sync is optional and encrypted. You can delete everything, anytime.
PreSpend (“we”, “us”, “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights over it. It applies to the PreSpend Android app and the website at prespend.app.
What We Collect
Information you provide
- Account information — If you sign in, we collect your email address and authentication credentials (managed by Firebase Authentication).
- Budget data — Expense plans, categories, income entries, and other information you enter into the App. This is stored locally on your device by default and only leaves your device if you enable cloud sync.
- Support communications — If you contact us, we retain the contents of that conversation to help resolve your issue.
Information collected automatically
- Device information — Device model and Android OS version, collected to help diagnose compatibility issues.
- Usage analytics — Aggregated, anonymised data about which features are used and how often, collected via Firebase Analytics. This data cannot be linked back to you individually.
- Crash reports — Technical error information collected automatically when the App crashes, used to fix bugs.
What we do not collect
- Bank account numbers, login credentials, or passwords
- Credit or debit card numbers
- Government-issued ID numbers
- Precise GPS location
- Any financial data you have not explicitly entered into the App yourself
How We Use Your Information
We use collected information to:
- Deliver and maintain the App
- Sync your data across devices (only if you enable cloud sync)
- Fix bugs and improve performance
- Respond to support requests
- Send important service updates
We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell your personal information to third parties.
Data Storage
Local storage (default)
All budget data is stored on your device using encrypted local storage. It never leaves your device unless you explicitly enable cloud sync.
Cloud sync (Premium — optional)
If you enable cloud sync:
- Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest
- Data is stored on MongoDB Atlas in secure, access-controlled environments
- You can disable sync or delete your cloud data at any time from within the App
Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We may share data only in the following limited circumstances:
- Service providers — Trusted third parties that help us operate the App (such as hosting and analytics providers), bound by strict confidentiality obligations.
- Legal requirements — When required by applicable law, court order, or to protect our legal rights.
- Business transfers — In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with advance notice to users.
Third-Party Services
The App integrates the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policies:
- Firebase Authentication (Google) — Manages secure account sign-in
- Firebase Analytics (Google) — Provides anonymised, aggregated usage analytics
- MongoDB Atlas — Hosts encrypted cloud-sync data for Premium users
- RevenueCat — Manages in-app subscription state and purchase validation

Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access — Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Correction — Ask us to correct inaccurate information
- Deletion — Delete your account and all associated data. See Delete Account or Delete Data
- Portability — Export your budget data in a standard format from within the App
- Opt out — Disable analytics and cloud sync at any time in App settings

Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including:
- TLS encryption for all data in transit
- Encryption of data at rest in cloud storage
- Access controls limiting who can access production systems
- Regular review of security practices
No system is perfectly secure. While we work hard to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children’s Privacy
The App is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
International Users
PreSpend operates globally. If you use the App from outside the country where our servers are located, your data may be transferred to and processed in that country. By using the App, you consent to this transfer. We ensure that such transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes through the App or by email. Your continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised Policy.
